MDT AMD PCNET32 (AMD Am79C790A0) driver voor VMWARE

Heel veel mensen gebruiken MDT om via windows PE boot via PXE Boot om een nieuw OS uit te rollen binnen VMWare. Heel veel mensen rollen standaard een XP of een 2003 machine uit. Standaard kiest VMWare voor de flexible adapter de AMD PCNET32 adapter. Alleen als je de driver gebruikt die standaard met VMWare meegeleverd wordt krijg je de volgende error tijdens het opstarten de Lite Touch Image.

Je krijgt dan de volgende error:
mdt amd error

De standaard driver die VMWare mee levert in VMWare Tools werkt niet binnen een Windows PE image. Wel als Windows een maal geïnstalleerd is.

Oplossing:
Download van de AMD site de NDIS5 driver voor Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows XP

Exchange Management Team heeft de opvolger van PFDADMIN genaamd ExFolder beschikbaar gesteld. Exfolders werkt alleen voor Exchange 2007 & Exchange 2010.
Met dit programma kun je rechten beheren op Public Folders. Downloaden doe je HIER.

Het programma heeft wel een paar installatie eisen.
– Het werkt alleen vanaf een Exchange 2010 server met de Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology service. Vanaf een client met alleen de Client Management Tools van Exchange 2010 wordt momenteel nog niet ondersteund.

– ExFolders.exe moet geplaatst worden in de Exchange \bin folder anders werkt het niet.

– Build is niet gesigneerd dus met importeren van bijgeleverde reg file is dat ook opgelost.

Kopieer C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\x86\wimgapi.dll naar

C:\Program Files\Windows Imaging & c:\windows\system32

LET OP onder C:\Program Files\Windows Imaging staat al een wingapi.dll hernoem deze voordat je de dll kopieerd.

Server 2008 R2 bevriest in VMware ESX & ESXi

Er is een probleem met Windows Server 2008 R2 die draait op VMWare ESX 3.5 & 4.
De oorzaak is de video driver zijn die geïnstalleerd wordt met de VMware Tools.

Oplossing

Bij het installeren van VMware Tools, selecteer Custom Install voor VMware Tools en schakel de SVGA driver uit.
Als alternatief, verwijder de SVGA driver van de Device Manager na het installeren van VMware Tools.

Update
Er is een nieuwe video driver in de laatste vmware tools. Na de VMWare Tools upgrade upgrade de SVGA driver naar de WDDM die te vinden onder C:\Program Files\Common Files\VMware\Drivers\wddm_video. Vink niet de SVGA videokaart driver uit anders moet de WDDM niet mee gekopieerd.
